Protect Silk Island's stray animals

On a small, isolated island in the Mekong River in Cambodia, hundreds of dogs and cats need our help. Although people and animals live side by side peacefully on Silk Island, the animals are in urgent need of medical care. Many dogs and cats suffer from skin diseases, inflammation and infections and none have been spayed or neutered. The many litters that are born perpetuate the vicious cycle of disease and malnutrition.

Compassionate residents try to help with human medication, but these often do more harm than good. As part of our Stray Animal Care project in Southeast Asia, FOUR PAWS visits Silk Island to treat as many animals as possible. Along with this, our team will educate the local population on the importance of animal care and the dangers of the dog meat trade.

Our initial scouting mission revealed numerous animals with untreated infections, open wounds, and other chronic illnesses.

Islandwide we will hold surgical clinics to spay and neuter as many animals as possible, and provide lifesaving care to sick and injured animals. We will also have educational days to engage island residents on animal welfare, treatment of sick animals, and the dangers of the dog meat trade.

Please support this mission and help us alleviate the suffering on Silk Island.
