Meet Leo & Melanka

Leo and Melanka, have been living in confinement since they were just three months old.

The two are kept in separate enclosures in one of the residences of the President of Ukraine. They are surrounded by concrete walls and floors, are fed an inadequate diet, and have no shelter from the elements. A lifetime of being deprived of freedom shows physically as they pace and display stereotypic behavior. 

After the recent change of Presidency in Ukraine; Four Paws requested the authorities to end the keeping of the "President Bears". We received permission from the authorities to relocate Leo and Melanka to our BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr, which is also located in Ukraine.

We are committed to bringing Leo and Melanka to BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr, where they will be able to enjoy their freedom in natural forest enclosures. Moreover, at our sanctuary, Leo and Melanka will receive the care and support they so desperately deserve.

Together we can make a difference and give Leo and Melanka a second chance.
