The Unseen Victims
The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated communities across the world. An estimated 3,000 to 4,000 elephants living in private ownership in Thailand rely on their owners for food. With the current lockdowns and drop in tourism dollars, food sources are drying up and these elephants are starving.
These elephants currently depend on being fed and because much of Thailand’s wildlands are not protected or suitable for elephants these giants cannot simply be released back into the wild as it would pose a major risk of human-animal conflict.
FOUR PAWS is partnering with Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation (STEF) and our Rapid Response Team is securing food for 100 elephants for a month, which is 13 truckloads of food per day!
One truck equals 4,800 -5,500 lbs. of food to nourish these beautiful animals.
The volunteers from FOUR PAWS and STEF will distribute the food in 13 different provinces across Southern Thailand and your support makes all of this possible.
Help FOUR PAWS feed the unseen victims of the pandemic!
